State-wide incentives make New Mexico very competitive in a high-tech global market. With more than 850 companies employing 12,000-15,000 people, IT/Software is one of our largest high-tech clusters, while film production is rapidly becoming a thriving economic force in the state. New Mexico offers a 25% tax rebate on all production expenditures that are subject to taxation by the state and a no-interest loan for up to $15M for qualifying feature films or television projects. The state also offers a 50% wage reimbursement program for on-the-job training of state residents in technical and crew positions.

  • International Game Developers Association (IGDA) has an Albuquerque/Rio Grande chapter that holds regular meetings and educational events. 
  • Media Industries Strategy Project is Governor Bill Richardson' initiative for a strong, sustainable media industry in New Mexico. It includes an annual film makers conference, a media industries conference and resources to help digital and media business thrive in New Mexico.
  • New Mexico Film Office offers services such as a location breakdown, arranging itineraries for location scouts, acts as a liaison with other agencies and offers guidance throughout the permitting process.
