NM’s Booming Science and Biotech Industries Are Contenders in a Competitive Global Economy

Thursday, 15 September 2011 13:46
Bring on the pocket protectors…Metro New Mexico rolls out the red carpet for scientists and engineers. With three federally funded laboratories within Metro New Mexico, the region is a prime location for science and technology development. Additionally, there are abundant education and job training resources, well-established science and technology companies, and proximity to research institutions. Biotechnology, optics and photonics, nano particle research, hydrogen fuel cells technology and electronics are just a few of the industries finding success in Metro New Mexico. The "2010 Flying 40 Awards" offers a list of "gazelle" companies based in the Metro New Mexico region, some of which include Star Cryoelectronics, Health Xnet and Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute. Other top employers in this industry include Lumidigm, Sandia Biotech and Tricore Laboratories. The Metro New Mexico region continues to expand as a global leader in biotech industry development.
